Apprentice Compact
Signed at the Apprentice Investiture, in the presence of the founder, the mentor, and the cohort. One printed copy for the Apprentice. One printed copy for the guild file.
I, ___________________________________, of my own will and in possession of my reason, present myself to Lion.College as Apprentice.
I have walked the LionMind 7-Day Path. I have read the Constitution and the Code of Conduct of this guild. I understand what it asks of me.
I commit, for one year from this day, to the following:
What I will do
- I will walk the daily practice — prayer or meditation, journal, training, Sabbath — and let my mentor and pod see the record.
- I will attend my weekly pod, on time, with my hands open and my mouth honest. If I cannot come, I will say so before the meeting, not after.
- I will meet my mentor on the cadence he sets. I will bring him the truth, including the truth that makes me small.
- I will complete Pillar I of the formation curriculum, week by week, and deliver my capstone in the twelfth month.
- I will ship one thing — a venture, a salaried role, a public artefact — within the year. If I cannot, I will say so honestly, not hide it.
- I will hold the Code of Conduct in every dealing — with brothers, with customers, with contractors, with strangers.
What I will not do
- I will not speak in pod what I would not speak to my brother's face. I will not speak outside pod what was given to me inside it.
- I will not solicit, poach, short, or attack another brother's venture, customers, or contractors.
- I will not lie to my mentor, my pod, my founder, or myself — about my practice, my finances, my marriage, my use of substance, or any other matter material to my formation.
- I will not use the guild to seek status. I am here to be formed, not to be seen.
What I receive in return
I receive a paired mentor — a Journeyman or Master who has walked further than I have, and who has committed to walk with me.
I receive a pod — three to five brothers who will see me weekly, and whom I will see.
I receive Pillar I of the curriculum — printed and digital — and the right to bring my questions to those who taught it.
I receive access to the Riverun stack — Riverun OS, RiverPay, LionMail, Lion Library — for the duration of my Apprenticeship.
I receive the right to attend the Annual Conclave as a guest of the cohort.
I receive the right, after twelve months of work, to apply for Journeyman.
What the guild owes me
The guild owes me honest correction. If I am off the path, I will be told.
The guild owes me pastoral care. If I am in crisis, the founder and my mentor will reach toward me.
The guild owes me an honest exit. If I cannot finish the year, I may leave with dignity, and what I have learned remains mine.
The guild owes me confidentiality. What I share in pod and with my mentor stays in pod and with my mentor.
My Year-One Vow
In addition to the foregoing, I make this Year-One Vow — one specific commitment, chosen in consultation with my mentor, that names the particular work this year asks of me:

One copy stays with the Apprentice. One copy is kept in the guild file. The compact is renewed annually, with each Year-One Vow becoming a Year-Two Vow, a Year-Three Vow, until the Apprentice is invested as Journeyman.
By order of the founder. By the patron of the Lion of Judah. For the formation of the man.
