Privacy Policy
How Lion.College handles personal information. Plain language. Australian Privacy Principles. Reviewed annually.
Who we are
Lion.College is operated by Riverun Pty Ltd (ACN 663 364 154), a company registered in Victoria, Australia. The founder is Liam Tormey.
In this policy:
- "We" or "the guild" means Lion.College, operated by Riverun Pty Ltd.
- "You" means a visitor to lion.college, an applicant, or a member.
What information we collect
From visitors to lion.college
We do not run third-party analytics tracking, advertising pixels, or session-replay tools. Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) records basic technical request data (IP address, user agent, request time) for operational and security purposes. We do not use this data for marketing.
We do not set marketing or advertising cookies. The only cookies we set are functional (e.g., authentication when you log in as a member).
From applicants (via the /apply form)
When you submit an Apprentice intake application, we collect what you provide:
- Identity: full name, age, location (city and country), email address
- Invitation context: whether you were invited, by whom (if you tell us)
- Work and intent: your current work, what you intend to ship in the next year
- Formation context: the virtue you are working on, the wound you are carrying, why you are applying now
- Reference: the name and contact of one brother who knows you
- Path completion: whether you have walked the 7-Day Path
- Submission metadata: time of submission, the originating page
The application is delivered to the founder's mailbox at liam@lionmind.zone and stored in his personal correspondence archive. It is not entered into a marketing system, a CRM, or an automated workflow.
From members
When you become an Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master, we hold:
- The personal information you provided at application
- Your signed Compact and any subsequent renewals
- Your participation records (attendance, mentorship logs, capstone artefacts)
- Your dues and payment records (held by RiverPay / our payment processor)
- Your written contributions to the canon (if any)
- Standards-related records (if any)
What we do with the information
Applicant data
We use applicant data solely to evaluate your application and, if your application is taken further, to conduct the thirty-minute conversation, contact your reference (if you progress), and prepare your Compact.
We do not:
- Add applicants to a marketing mailing list
- Sell applicant data to third parties
- Share applicant data with anyone outside the founder and (if your application progresses) your prospective mentor
If your application is declined or held, your file is retained for up to 12 months for internal-record purposes and then deleted. You may request immediate deletion at any time.
Member data
Member data is used to administer membership: communications, pod assignments, mentorship pairings, Conclave logistics, dues collection, syndicate participation (if any), and the canon contributions you choose to make.
We do not share member data with third parties except as required to:
- Process payments (via RiverPay / Stripe)
- Provide LionMail and Riverun stack services (these are sibling services within Riverun Pty Ltd)
- Comply with law (e.g., a valid court order)
The membership directory is visible only to other members. It is never published publicly. Members may opt out of directory listing entirely.
The wound, the practices, and other sensitive content
A great deal of what passes through Lion.College is sensitive — the wound an applicant names in his application, the practices a member shares in pod, the standards complaints a brother files, the confessions a man brings to his mentor.
We treat this content with discipline:
- Application wound text is read by the founder and (if your application progresses) your prospective mentor. It is not shared more broadly. It does not appear in any analytics or summary report.
- Pod content is governed by the Code of Conduct, Article 3: what is shared in pod stays in pod. The guild does not access or archive pod communications except under a Standards investigation, and then only the specific content relevant to the complaint.
- Mentor 1:1 content is private to the mentor-Apprentice relationship. The guild does not archive these conversations.
- Standards proceedings are sealed except to the parties, the committee, and (in summary) the Master Council. Article VII of the Constitution governs.
- Memorial content about deceased members is published with consent of the family or executor.
The founder may, in absolute privacy, read any communication on guild infrastructure if there is a credible safety risk (suicide, abuse, criminal harm). This is the standard pastoral exception. It does not extend to commercial, reputational, or political concerns.
Where the data lives
- Application emails arrive at
liam@lionmind.zone, served by our LionMail infrastructure (hosted in Australia). - Member data and dues are held in our Neon Postgres database, also hosted in Australia.
- LionMail addresses for pods, members, and mentors are held on our own mail servers.
- The website itself is served by Vercel (data may transit through their global edge network).
- Payment data is held by Stripe / RiverPay according to their published policies.
We do not transfer your personal information to overseas recipients except as inherent in using Vercel and Stripe infrastructure (which both maintain strong privacy compliance).
How long we keep data
- Declined or held applications: up to 12 months, then deleted on request or annually as part of file review.
- Member data while active: held for the duration of membership.
- Member data after resignation/expulsion: archival records (rank, dates of membership, capstones) are held in perpetuity as part of the guild's institutional memory. Operational data (email, address, payment details) is deleted within 12 months of departure.
- Standards records: sealed permanently. Not deleted, but accessible only to the Standards Committee and (in summary) the Master Council.
- Canon contributions: retained in perpetuity as the canon is the institutional memory.
Your rights
Under the Australian Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles, you have the right to:
- Access your personal information held by the guild — by written request to the founder.
- Correct inaccurate or out-of-date information — by written request.
- Delete your personal information (subject to retention requirements for member archival records) — by written request.
- Complain about our handling of your data — first to the founder; if unresolved, to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
To exercise any of these rights, email liam@lionmind.zone from the email address associated with your record.
Children
Lion.College does not accept members under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information to us, contact the founder and we will delete it.
