Terms of Use
The terms on which Lion.College makes its website, application form, and content available. Plain language. Australian law. Reviewed annually.
Who you are agreeing with
By using the lion.college website or any of its services (including the application form), you are entering an agreement with Riverun Pty Ltd (ACN 663 364 154), Melbourne, Australia, trading as Lion.College.
If you are an Apprentice, Journeyman, or Master, this is not your full members' agreement — your Compact and the Constitution govern that relationship. These Terms cover anyone who uses the public site.
What you can do
You may:
- Read the public content of lion.college, including the canon, the constitution, and the founding documents.
- Walk the 7-Day Path freely.
- Submit an application via the
/applyform. - Email the founder with questions.
- Share links to the site publicly (we want this to be readable; we do not want it hidden).
- Quote published canon content with attribution.
You may not:
- Submit a fraudulent or impersonating application.
- Use the site to harass, defame, or threaten any member or staff member.
- Copy and republish substantial portions of the canon under your own name or without attribution.
- Use automated tools to scrape, mirror, or programmatically harvest content from the site.
- Attempt to circumvent technical protections (the password gate, where applied).
- Use the site or its content for any unlawful purpose.
The application form
By submitting an application via /apply, you confirm that:
- The information you provide is true and complete to the best of your knowledge.
- You are at least 18 years old.
- You understand that submission is not acceptance — applications are read and decided personally by the founder, and most applications are not accepted to the founding cohort.
- You consent to the founder reading what you write, including the wound you name. (Handling is governed by our [Privacy Policy](/privacy) and the Code's confidentiality articles.)
- You may withdraw your application at any time by writing to the founder, in which case your file is deleted.
Canon content
Material published as part of the canon (THE 888, the Constitution, the Code, the Pillars, the Path, etc.) is © Riverun Pty Ltd and the individual authors.
Personal use: You may read, print, and share the canon freely for personal use, including with your own friends and family.
Educational use: Teachers, ministers, and small-group leaders may quote and reference the canon with attribution. We are happy to support this; if you are doing it, write to us.
Commercial use: Reproducing substantial portions of the canon (e.g., printing a book of selections, republishing a curriculum, training a paid model on the corpus) requires a licence from us. Email liam@lionmind.zone to discuss.
Attribution: A standard attribution looks like: "From Pillar I of the Octava, Lion.College (lion.college/pillar/i)". Specific authors are attributed where named.
Members' content and intellectual property
For members:
- You retain copyright in your individual contributions to the canon, your capstones, and your written work.
- The guild holds canon publication rights royalty-free in perpetuity for editions published under the Lion Library imprint.
- You may publish your work elsewhere (newsletter, trade press, etc.) without restriction.
- Your pod communications and mentor 1:1 content are confidential to the participants and not owned or claimed by the guild.
No warranties
The Lion.College website and its content are provided "as is". We do our best to keep content accurate and the site reliable, but:
- The canon includes opinions, frameworks, and practices. They are intended for thoughtful reading, not as professional advice. Nothing in the canon is medical, legal, financial, or psychiatric advice.
- The 7-Day Path and the formation curriculum involve psychological and spiritual work. Some of it may be uncomfortable. If you have a history of severe mental illness, addiction, or suicidality, consult your treating professional before walking the path.
- We do not guarantee that the site will always be available. Maintenance windows, infrastructure issues, and the realities of small-team operation may cause downtime.
Limit of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Riverun Pty Ltd and its founders, employees, and directors are not liable for:
- Indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of the site or its content.
- Losses arising from your participation in formation practices.
- Losses arising from reliance on the canon as a substitute for professional advice.
This does not exclude or limit any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law, nor any other law that cannot be excluded.
Termination
We may suspend or terminate your access to the site if you violate these Terms. For members, suspension or termination of membership follows the Constitution (Article VII) and the Code of Conduct, not these Terms — those processes have due process and appeal rights.
For non-members: we may block IP addresses, accounts, or specific applicants who violate these Terms, particularly for harassment or fraudulent applications. We will not block based on disagreement, criticism, or honest difference of view.
Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. The parties submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Victoria.
Before commencing any legal action, we both agree to attempt good-faith resolution by direct correspondence for at least thirty days. Mediation through a mutually agreed mediator is encouraged before litigation.
For members, the Standards Process is the first-recourse pathway for matters within the guild. Civil-law action is the last recourse, not the first.
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be:
- Posted on this page with the revision date below.
- Communicated to active members via the LionMail group.
- Subject to Master Council review every three years.
If you continue to use the site after a material change, your continued use indicates acceptance of the updated Terms.
